We choose to start with a solid base to build our trailer. Background: In 1992 Canada DND built 1972, 1/4 ton trailers to serve along side the VW Itus. In the relative peace in the late 20th century the trailers where not fully utilized and thus in 2006, retired from active service.Auctioned off as surplus, this provided the enthusiast with the perfect platform to build a overland expedition trailer. Weighing in at just under 800lbs and fully equipped to handle 1500 lbs of load, we plan to add a full kitchen, sleeping arrangements and a self sustainable electrical system capable of providing the energy to support a fridge, lights, heating and a pressurized water source.

Hi, If you don't mind me asking. How much did you pay for your trailer? Could you provide the contact info for the vendor?
ReplyDeleteGreat Blog guys. We'll be watching keenly. We're trying to decide on a crewcab and it seems to be coming down to a choice between a f150 and a Frontier. I'm glad you posted a picture with the baby seat in the back as we have a six month old daughter.
Good luck!
Hey Jeff
ReplyDeleteWe paid $1200 for the trailer from a local supplier in Kelowna. We were fortunate to get the last one he had. This is there web page. Give it a look you could get lucky.
